What FinalVerify Does

FinalVerify is a citation verification tool for lawyers, paralegals, and legal professionals. Upload a brief, motion, or any legal document and FinalVerify will extract every case citation, statute reference, and legal citation — then check each one against authoritative databases automatically.

For each citation you get:

• A verification status (verified, not found, ambiguous, or statute verified)
• A provenance label showing exactly how the verification was performed
• An AI-generated risk memo flagging potential issues in your document
• Export options including a formal Citation Verification Report (PDF)

What We Check Against

• CourtListener — 15 million+ federal and state court opinions (open database)
• Virginia Code (LIS) — Virginia statute verification via the Legislative Information System
• U.S. Code (GovInfo) — Federal statute verification via GovInfo API

More jurisdictions are planned. All verification sources are open and authoritative.

How It Runs

FinalVerify is a cloud service hosted at finalverify.com. Your documents are uploaded to our secure server for processing and are never stored after analysis is complete. AI risk analysis uses an open-source model running on our server — no document content is sent to third-party AI services by default.

An optional enhanced AI analysis mode using OpenAI is available. When that mode is used, citation data is sent to OpenAI under their privacy policy.

Our Mission

Citation errors happen. AI-generated hallucinations happen. Manual cite-checking is slow and error-prone. FinalVerify exists to help lawyers catch citation problems before they become sanctions, client complaints, or professional embarrassments.
